How big is a boat and what equipment does it have?

It is important to know that there are boats in different sizes. Already from 4 persons up to 12 travelers everything is possible. Of course, boats that are intended for 12 people can be booked by only 4 people as well, but this is reflected in the price. But also means that these 4 people have a double cabin for themselves. The boat prices start at € 1.000 total price and go up to the top, according to your wishes. We are there for that, we explain what is possible and you decide what you want. Yachts can have a variety of equipment. Air conditioning, generator for more electricity, water makers and much more.

Mono or Cat – what’s that?

Comfort – A catamaran offers more space. The space is much larger on two hulls than on just one hull. Also on deck and in the saloon, it is simply much more spacious on a catamaran than on a monohull. Catamarans do not moor, so they have almost no inclination when sailing. With everyday things on board such as cooking, eating and sleeping, this is a big advantage. As for comfort, the catamaran is clearly in front of a monohull.

Sailing characteristics – Catamarans usually have less characteristic impedance and are therefore often faster. Catamarans have a lower draft than monohulls, so you can anchor with a cat, for example, deeper in the bay and closer to the beach. Single-hulled sailboats have much better sailing performance on the wind than most catamarans. One-handed sailing is much more possible on a hull than on a catamaran. In ports with boxes or little space, it is often easier to find a place in the marina with the much narrower monohulls.

Costs – Here it is the other way around as the comfort, which obviously has its price: From a price point of view, all the advantages for sailors lie on a hull.

Season – When do I go where?

The season is like any holiday something you have to consider. In Europe there are the high and the low season. For example, if we look at Croatia or Greece, we speak of the high season from the beginning of June to the middle of September, the months around these times are therefore low season and much cheaper. However, it is good to know that at the end of September or in May in Croatia and Greece you can already expect fantastic weather and good swimming. Of course, not quite as hot as in August, but nevertheless wonderful for a sailing vacation. But if you choose Asia or South America as your destination, then the months of high and low season change. Because there we have are the high seasons between December and March, just when it is really cold in Europe and you want to go somewhere warm.

Skipper and Concierge Package – That’s Possible!

Each of our private charters (charter is called a sailing vacation) comes including a skipper. A skipper is the Boat Driver and takes care that you always come safe from A to B. However, it is also possible to rent only one ship. This is possible if one of the fellow travelers has a suitable license. But that also means that you are on your own on the journey. Here we could offer you our concierge package. This is for those who only rent a boat but still need assistance with marina reservations or route planning.
